The Basement Stage presents, "ALMOST, MAINE"
The Basement Stage, a local theater group that operates out of Christ Lutheran Church, in Newburgh, is preparing for our summer production. Now in its sixth season, The Basement Stage is a place for new artists to experiment, collaborate and grow. Our stage, which is beneath historic Christ Lutheran Church, is complete with track lights, footlights, curtains, and seating for 80 people.
This summer The Basement Stage presents: “Almost, Maine,” written by John Cariani and Directed by Mount Holyoke College graduate and Moscow Art Theatre School student Laura Donovan. The show is ALL AGES. Almost, Maine is a town that’s so far north, it’s almost not in the United States—it’s almost in Canada. And it almost doesn’t exist, because its residents never got around to getting organized. So it’s just… Almost. One cold, clear Friday night in the middle of winter, while the northern lights hover in the sky above, Almost’s residents find themselves falling in and out of love in the strangest ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. Love is lost, found, and confounded. And life for the people of Almost, Maine will never be the same.
