Congratulations to the Black History Committee Youth Award Recipients
Newburgh, NY: The Black History Committee (BHC) celebrated its Annual Youth Awards on Friday, February 6th. The awards ceremony was held at Inspire, 344 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh at 6:30 PM.
Each year the BHC recognizes youth of the African Diaspora for outstanding achievement in Scholarship, Leadership, Citizenship and Religious Commitment. The youth are selected by area churches, civic organizations and educational institutions. The evening ceremony was a great way for the community to show its appreciation and to encourage youth to stay on the positive path to success.
This year’s recipients include: Theodore Miller Jr., Darryl Washington, Mariah Ashley, Aaron Cortez Warner, Khiara Young, Tasje Gilchrist, Taylayah Walker, Zieheim McLean, Tajah Boykin and Aizia Smith. Also, a special recognition award was presented to reigning Dutchess County Teen, Raquel Ringgold.
