Día de Los Muertos Fiesta
Newburgh, NY - On Monday, October 17, there will be a Día de Los Muertos Fiesta (Day of the Dead Party) at the Newburgh Brewing company at 6 PM. This is a joint fundraiser for America Rows and Swims Newburgh, which provides free swim clinics and rowing programs for underserved youth; and also for the Newburgh salvation army Thanksgiving dinner, said Juliana LoBiondo, the director of America Rows and Swims Newburgh.
"The Día de Los Muertos is a common festival celebrated throughout Latin America," said LoBiondo, "and will be the theme of this year's fundraiser. Admission is just $15 per person, but that is reduced to $10 per person if you bring a donation for the Newburgh salvation army in the form of canned goods or nonperishable goods. Admission includes One plate of food at the international food buffet, dancing to music by DJ Ming, and there will be Zumba from 7 PM to 8 PM with Kattya, Maritza and Celenia, some of the most popular Zumba instructors in the area. In addition there will be available for sale: A special brew from the Newburgh Brewing company, Beautiful event T-shirts, Face painting by STAT face painters, a Cupcake extravaganza, fabulous raffle items and an exciting live auction."
"We encourage the community to come out for this great event, it's our fourth year in a row at the Newburgh Brewing company," said Coach Ed Kennedy, Head coach of the Newburgh Rowing club and head swim coach for the free swim program of ARSN. All proceeds go to benefit our community out reach program, and we will be bringing the food donations over to the Newburgh salvation army for their Thanksgiving dinner they provide to the needy."
