Paper Bags are Back in Style

SUNY Orange presents the Paper Bag Players January 12th, 2014. Whether it’s summer or winter, children have lots of energy stored up inside and ready to go. So, on Sunday, January 12, 2014, give them the opportunity to “let off some steam” by bringing them to Orange Hall Theatre for the performance at 2pm by the Paper Bag Players.

To celebrate their 55th year of performing, the Paper Bag Players have dug deep into their Bag of fan favorites for Lost In the Mall and A Perfect Picture. These classic skits combine with a heaping helping of brand new material for their new production

This funny, fast-paced, one-hour show puts children ages 3 through 8 and parents, grandparents and friends on the edge of their seats clapping, laughing, and eager to dance and participate.

“THE PAPER BAG PLAYERS HICCUP HELP!” focuses on a child’s relationship with parents, grandparents, teachers, siblings, and friends, and explores the joy, conflicts, adventures, and mis-adventures of these very special relationships. The show is filled with comedy, zany characters, lively music, and eye-popping paper and cardboard sets, all creating a “Bag-full” of theatrical magic.

The fun begins upon entering the theatre—center stage is a 20’ Birthday Cake, blue icing, sprinkles, and candles---yum! It’s a surprise party. Shhhh! Surprise!!  The amusement continues in the title piece. An extraordinary case of the hiccups is cured with a little help from a dancing dinosaur. In the musical number, Dreams Come True, an ordinary pizza-delivery guy gets a chance to realize his dreams of being in show business.  In addition, the audience goes on a tropical safari and helps look for a lost puppy.

The award-winning Paper Bag Players keep it simple-and simply hilarious. And speaking of awards, the Paper Bag Players have received an OBIE, as well as the American Theater Wing Award, the New York State Artists Award, The Broadway Theater Institute Award for Theater and Education,  the Children’s Theater Foundation Medallion, and the American Association for Theater and Education Award.

Orange Hall is located at the corner of Wawayanda and Grandview Avenues, Middletown, NY on the campus of Orange County Community College [Get Tickets].
