Young Actor Lands Stage Role in School of Rock

New Windsor 10 year old, Maddox Elliot to perform in School of Rock at Union County Performing Arts Center.

Maddox Elliot Skigen a 5th grader at Hudson Hills Academy will be playing Mason (and understudying Freddy) in School of Rock Youth Production at UCPAC May 20-22, 2016.

School of Rock is a brand new musical based on the famous Paramount film. The stage musical on Broadway is produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber, who has composed 14 new songs to create a score. School of Rock, with its sensational live kids’ rock band, is a loving testimony to the transforming power of music. 

At 7, Maddox performed in his first professional role as “Gavroche” in Les Miserables at Surflight Theatre, Broadway by the Sea, and then on to 3 more consecutive Les Miserables productions (WPPAC, Rhinebeck Theatre for Performing Arts and Just Off Broadway, Inc). Most recent regional and professional credits include: Evergreen at THE TIMESCENTER at THE NEW YORK TIMES; Sing for Peace (to End Gun Violence – Times Square, NYC); ( Dream Street (“Oscar”  U.S. Premier, Pearl Theatre, NYC); MASADA (Children’s Choir - Manhattan Opera Repertory Ensemble); Oliver (“Charlie Bates / Oliver U/S” – Forrestburgh Playhouse); The Music Man (Winthrop Paroo); as well as vocal performances with Kids of The Arts “Lyrics for Life” and “Broadway Kids” to help raise over $25,000 for the American Society of Suicide Prevention; Broadway Youth Ensemble; Just of Broadway, Inc.; and Riverside Theatre Arts. In addition to appearing in several films, commercials and episodics, Maddox enjoys writing and “producing” his own shows.  “The first time I saw the movie, even before it was on Broadway, I knew every line!” said Maddox.  “I am so excited to do the first youth production and hope someday to be a part of the Broadway cast!!”

Scenes from the School of Rock movie, starring Jack Black, were filmed at UCPAC in 2002. The 1,300-seat historical Vaudeville Theatre continues to host celebrity artists, concerts, musicals and community events.
