Annual Event Culminates with Major Donation Announcement

NEWBURGH, NY-- The 7th annual Lap4Life event was a huge success.  This race/community day is held annually to raise money and awareness for Desmoid Tumor research and organ donation. The event was attended by well over 1,500 racers, supporters, volunteers and health fair vendors in 2015.

Lap4Life was started by Maddalena Casabianca-Reade as a way to do something to support her brother, Dr. Angelo Casabianca who battled a rare Desmoid tumor from the age of 30.  Angelo proudly walked in the first Lap4Life event in June 2009.  He lost his battle six months later at the age of 39.  The Lap4Life event continues in his memory the third Saturday of each June at Chadwick Lake Park, in Newburgh, NY.  Save the date: 8th Annual event on June 18, 2016.

The Lap4Life Foundation focuses on Desmoid Tumor research and Organ Donation.  There is a desperate need for continued research into the biology and treatment of Desmoid Tumors. Organ donation requires continued research to find new ways to improve outcomes for recipients, and just as importantly needs more awareness for potential donor registration, especially here in the Hudson Valley.   This year, Lap4life donated $30,000.00 to the Desmoid Tumor Research Foundation and $24,000.00 to LiveOnNY. The Foundation is able to donate all the proceeds to their causes (Desmoid Tumor Research and Organ Donation) since Lap4Life is run 100% by volunteers who work year-round on planning, development and logistics.

Lap4Life wishes to thank all of the sponsors, supporters, volunteers and community attendees who come out each year to help support the cause and bring HOPE to those battling desmoids tumors and to those awaiting life-saving organ transplants.

Lap4Life is a registered 501(c)3 organization.
