Cat Adoption Fees Waived Thanks to Special Grant
Middletown, NY -- Pets Alive, a no kill animal sanctuary in Middletown, NY, is the lucky recipient of a grant made possible through Lil BUB’s BIG Fund for the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®). Internet sensation, Lil BUB, an amazing cat, has teamed up with the ASPCA® to support a cause close to her heart – animals with special needs.
A true kitty hero, BUB is using her fame to be a voice for cats and dogs, especially those who need some extra help. Since Lil BUB’s BIG Fund for the ASPCA was created in February 2014, more than $200,000 (and counting!) has been raised to help special needs animals across the country. Through funding provided by this grant, Pets Alive created a special adoption program available through May 31, 2016 called “Diamonds in the Rough”. The program targets cats that have special needs or have been at the shelter for a lengthy period of time. Thanks to this generous grant, any cat adopted through this program will have their adoption fee waived and the adopter will receive a $100 gift certificate for the cat’s first veterinarian visit.
“We are grateful to Lil BUB’s BIG Fund and the ASPCA® for this grant,” said Becky Tegze, Pets Alive Executive Director. “These cats have so very much to offer and, quite often, adopters simply don't know how much love their hearts actually hold.”
Pets Alive currently houses over 150 cats on their property – and some cats have been there for years. “We hope through the incentives of this program, that families will consider giving these special cats a home so they are no longer in the rough but will sparkle and shine,” said Tegze. “Thanks to the support of Lil BUB’s fans, we are able to assist Pets Alive and other grantees as they work to help vulnerable animals,” said Adam Liebling, director of grants management for the ASPCA.
