Fun on the Green for Human Services
Catholic Charities Orange County Annual Golf Outing Raised $27,000 to Support Agency’s Human Service Programs
Goshen – Dr. Dean Scher, Executive Director of Catholic Charities Community Services of Orange County (CCCSOC), and Mr. Tom Larsen, Esq., Chairman of the 2014 CCCSOC golf outing, are pleased to announce that the 8th annual golf outing net $27,000. The funds raised go directly toward supporting Catholic Charities’ programs and services in Orange County.
The annual outing was held Monday, July 21 at West Hills Country Club, a part of the Bonura Hospitality Group, in Middletown. 109 golfers participated in the scramble format outing.
“The annual Catholic Charities outing is more than just a fun day on the golf course with friends and colleagues, it’s a way to lend a helping hand to the neediest in our community – the more than 24,000 people who access Catholic Charities’ programs each year,” said Larsen. “We are grateful for the support from our sponsors, golfers, raffle donors, committee members, and volunteers who generously donated time, talent, and funds to make our 2014 annual golf outing a success,” added Larsen.
The Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York was the event’s lead sponsor. Sterling National Bank was the vice chairman sponsor. Rounding out the top sponsorships were Bonura Hospitality Group, Orange Regional Medical Center, and Skip and Susan Tetz. On the course sponsors included Armistead Mechanical, Inc., Integra Networks, Orange County Trust Company, Stamford Office Furniture, Mediacom, A. Gurda Produce Co., and Charles B. Merrill Office Supplies & Equipment. More than 30 friends and supporters also sponsored tee signs on the course.
The winning foursome was comprised of Skip Tetz, Susan Murray Tetz, Frank Lenti, and Diane Lenti. David Jacques and Corinne Tetz won prizes for the longest drive contest and Jossie Rivera and Patrick Ferrigno won the closest to the pin contest. The top three foursomes and the contest winners all received gift certificates to the West Hills Pro Shop. (Headlining Photo)
Tom Clark, who golfed with the Greater Hudson Bank foursome, provided one of the day’s highlights when he sunk a hole in one on the par 3 12th hole.
“Thanks to the leadership of our committee chair Tom Larsen, the West Hills’ team, and our Catholic Charities’ staff, the day ran smoothly and a good time was had by all who participated,” said Scher. “We had such a good time we locked in the date for our 2015 outing before this year’s outing was over. Anyone interested in golfing for a great cause next year should be sure to note Monday, July 20, 2015 on their calendar. We’ve already had our first sponsor sign on for 2015 so we’re ready to go,” added Scher.
