Travel Photographer Auctioning Off Photos of the World for HVSPCA

Award Winning Photo Journalist Contributing Art to Benefit HVSPCA of New Windsor

Spectacular images from around the world will be up for auction to benefit the Hudson Valley Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to be held on Saturday, October 18th, 6:00-7:00pm VIP Artist Reception (with wine, hors d’oeuvres and presentation with photographer, Jill Schensul),7:00-9:00pm Art Auction will be held.

Photographer,  Jill Schensul, Award Winning Travel Journalist, attended Cornell University receiving a BS and also a MA in Journalism from the University of Arizona. Before becoming the Travel Journalist for The Record in Northern New Jersey, Jill Interned at the Tombstone Epitaph, worked at the Arizona Daily Star, and as Publications Director for the ASPCA in Manhattan.

”I guess you could sum it up by saying I take photographs because I find the world breathtaking, and sad, and wondrous and brilliant, and I want to capture it all and share it. I take photographs of  creatures, big and small, I see in my travels and in my own back yard because they are perfect. And beautiful. And important to notice, and think about.”

Her work beside being featured in The Record, has been in Country Roads of New Jersey (coauthor with Judi Dash): Country Roads Press: 3 editions, Travelers Tales: Paris, Delta Sky Magazine, Westways Magazine, Washington Post,  Seattle Times, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Cleveland Plain Dealer, Chicago Sun-times, and many more.

Her photographs have been shown in numerous galleries and Jill was the 2012 Lowell Thomas Travel Journalist of the Year for her work in The Record in northern New Jersey. “In a series of adventures, she chooses colorful words and just the right phrasing to hold us captive. Jill Schensul proves that she’s a professional storyteller,” judges said.  This is the most prestigious competition for travel writers, drawing entries from US and Canada including National Geographic, NY Times and others.
