October is breast cancer awareness month. American Cancer Society (Making Strides), Cancer Treatment Centers of America, the Dyson Center (locally), and Susan G. Komen are among some popular non-profits who accept related donations.

Check out Seven Ways the Hudson Valley is coming together in October to fund a cure... 

1. The Making Strides Cancer Walk at Woodbury Commons is this Sunday -- Join the walk, or sponsor a registered team.

2. Radio Woodstock 100.1 Pink October Request-a-thon October 25 - 26th at Poughkeepsie Galleria

Proceeds will go directly to the Dyson Center for Cancer Care in Poughkeepsie, NY.


3. Edible Arrangements is doing their part in October for breast cancer, too! All month long they have agreed to donate 10% of the sales from every item in the Breast Cancer Awareness Collection to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Free pick-up at a store near you!


4. Fit Body BootCamp in New Windsor is running a program on October 25th with proceeds re-circulating locally...


 ...or maybe you'd rather dance.

5. Empire Dance is having a dance-a-thon that coincides with the grand opening of the studio!

6. American Cancer Society Monster Bash/$150 per person.

The event will include a special mission auction to raise funds for the Society’s Hope Lodge Network, which provides free lodging to cancer patients receiving treatment away from home.  Last year, more than 43,000 patients stayed at Hope Lodge facilities nationwide, providing more than 265,000 free nights of lodging and saving families an estimated $38 million in hotel expenses.
