Beacon Celebrates Grand Opening of Long Dock Park!
A Day In The Park! A Celebration of fun and sun at Long Dock!
If you’re like me, the only exposure you’ve had at the Beacon Train Station is a series of events that begins with a frantic effort to decipher ticket machines and ends with an Olympic sprint onto the train platform.

By the time you scavenge the cars for a place to sit, dig through a black hole purse in pursuit of a single train ticket, and make impossible room for your bag on the overhead rack - the train has already begun moving forward and you look up just in time to completely miss the sights of the Beacon waterfront.
I invite you to allocate an afternoon that might otherwise be spent sprinting for the train in favor of exploring the beautiful revitalization of the Beacon Waterfront, now called: Long Dock Park. Scenic Hudson partnered up with a long list of contributors to bring this stunning, well developed waterfront property to public access and purposes of commonality. Happy Hudson Valley was there to share in the grand opening event on Saturday, July 9th. Summer sunshine poured over an afternoon crowd alongside the dock. Visitors enjoyed hula hooping and face painting.

Local vendors lined the trail way as young and old indulged in some delicious gourmet fruit pops from Zora Dora. Art fans mingled at a wine reception inside Scenic Hudon’s River Center where they viewed photography and Mixed Media Art displays. The family friendly event included musical performances – artist duo WeMustBe gave an airily rendition of their new single, “Sky High” during a riverside performance. A crowd was gathered to partake in beautiful scenic views of a glistening Hudson River and Scenic Hudson’s entire staff lined the park grounds, serving as ambassadors to the event.
Event-goers got a first look at the beautiful new boat house - a vision in itself. Kayakers enjoyed free tours on the water courtesy of Mtn. Tops Outfitters. The Beacon shop will provide kayak rentals all summer long from this brand new launch dock. ($30 - $50). Weekend hours : 10AM – 6PM. Weekday rentals and guided tours also available.
