Best of Happy Hudson Valley: News

2012 was a great year for good news! Some stories we went looking for and some of them came to us. In the end we were inspired, uplifted and reassured by all of these good news moments that helped remind us why we love the Hudson Valley so much. Here are some of our favorites: Music often falls into our News category - concerts, local musicians and fundraisers are all part of our program. This year we got up close and personal with Matt Booth from the Dedication, interviewed Woodstock's Sarah Fimm and visited her Sparkle Park and even brought you the play-by-play on young talent in the area during the Ritz Kids Talent Show.

We were there when Habitat for Humanity combined forces with the Builders Association to erect two houses in five days. Cathy Collins hooked us up with a copy of the stop motion video that captured it all.. we called it the miracle on chamber st. Follow the link to one of the most inspired 3 minute videos we've ever seen!

We had a run with celebrity this year as well, having the fortune of spending an afternoon interviewing  Hudson Valley transplant Peter Buffett on the subject of his famous father, his music career and the NoVo foundation.. We had front row seats to a speaking engagement with Darryl Strawberry thanks to the the Mid-Hudson chapter of the NYSSCPA. We got to talk with Superman writer Scott Lobdell and Snooki Boxing's World Champion fighter Patrick Hyland.

We got a one-on-one with local motorcyclist who was saved by a roadside nurse after a car accident left him barely breathing, and we got great shots of Hudson Valley runners showing support for safety awareness at Orange County Choppers World HQ who sponsored a 5k in his honor.

We were there at the Beacon Barks parade. We took part in Hudson Valley Honor Flight's inaugural trip.. and we got an exclusive with Newburgh's Olympian Samyr Laine prior to his journey to London during the summer games.

And, just to bring it home we want to remind everyone about the Secret World of Geocache - something of an X-marks the spot on the treasure map of life.. All of these stories and more are archived on the website for all to see! Now that you know what we’re looking for send us your NEWS stories for publish in 2013! It’s free! Thank you to our supporters for an amazing year.
