Bigger Better MarketPlace Debuting in Dutchess March 15th

Dutchess MarketPlace is a 100,000 square-foot year-round indoor flea market located at the intersection of Route 9 & Interstate 84 in Fishkill, New York will hold its Grand Opening ribbon cutting on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 12pm.

The market is operated by Bill Sabia & Roy Lobosco, who over the past twenty years, have developed a stellar reputation as first class flea market owners in the tri state area.  In 1998 they originally opened at the Dutchess Mall, in the former Service Merchandise store where they operated for seven years, until the adjoining mall was demolished to make way for a new Home Depot.  Even though they have operated elsewhere over the years, they always felt that Fishkill was their home and they continued to seek an opportunity to return to the area.

In the Summer of 2013 the chance to return became a reality when they were offered the former Jamesway store at the north end of the Dutchess Mall.  This was the site of the Brooklyn based, J.W. Mays Department store the original anchor of the Mall, which was most recently a Jamesway department store.  Working closely with the property owners, The Dagar Group Ltd., the property leasing agent and the Town of Fishkill plans were made to open the Dutchess MarketPlace.

Bill & Roy envisioned a bigger, better market than their original creation with wider aisles, constructed vendor booths, a food court, wifi, newer bathroom facilities and access points to and from the seasonal outside market spaces. Starting with their original announcement on Facebook and other social media the response was quick and overwhelming, from former and new vendors interested in the new venture.

On December 14, 2013, that vision was realized with what Bill called their “sneak preview” opening.  “The response has been tremendous and at the moment we have over 300 businesses operating weekly at the market.  Many of our vendors operate their booths as their primary business and for others we have provided a new opportunity for a second income.  In these difficult economic times, our vision has been enthusiastically embraced by the business community and our customers,”  Sabia said.

Weekly, Dutchess MarketPlace continues to have new vendors open with a goal of nearly 400 booths open & operating by   late Spring when the seasonal outdoor spaces become available for Sunday vendors.

Dutchess MarketPlace is easily accessible from Connecticut, Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Orange, Rockland & Ulster Counties as well as Northern New Jersey.
