Come Get Down with the Crew Team Luau Style
Newburgh, NY – the NFA Crew Team is funded for this season, but must raise money for the 2014 season as they compete in the 2013 crew season. "It's all in a day's work," said NFA Varsity Head Coach Ed Kennedy. Friends of Newburgh Crew, Inc., the not-for-profit organization which takes in community donations to fund the NFA Crew Team will hold a "Luau" at Rambler’s Rest in Monroe, on May 9, 2013, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
"We hope to have a big turnout, so the kids can concentrate on rowing," said Coach Kennedy. The $25 entry price includes a Hawaiian buffet and one tropical drink and there will be a DJ as well, said Team Mom Juliana LoBiondo. "We are very thankful to Rambler's Rest in Monroe and DJ Ming of SoundQuest DJ NY for their generosity. We will have raffles, hula hoop contests and a limbo contest. It's a night of family fun in the middle of the season, and we are definitely hoping for a big turnout."
Additionally, Kiss My Face, maker of sunscreen and products made from natural ingredients, headquartered in New Paltz, NY, has donated hundreds of dollars worth of sunscreen to the Newburgh Rowing Club to make sure all rowers have sun protection. "We are out in the hot sun all the time, we surely appreciate and will use this major donation," said Coach Ed Kennedy, Programs Director of the Newburgh Rowing Club.
