Jean Elie's story is being brought to your attention by a local family with ties to Haiti. It is the story of a four-year-old boy in Haiti who would sacrifice his school snacks and bring them home to share with his family. Sadly the young boy did not survive due to his own malnutrition. If you can not attend the kick-off consider making a small donation to this great cause. They are asking participants to skip a single meal and donate the funds in order to serve people in need in Haiti and honor Jean Elie.

All proceeds from this event will go to the Heart in Haiti organization through which Jean Elie was able to attend school. Click here to register.

SUNDAY June 2, 2013

Walk for Christian: 4-year-old Christian was recently diagnosed with acute leukemia. Walden Little League has invited the community to walk to help with medical bills and round-the- care. His Mom Louise said this in response to a benefit held at Unions House in Walden a few weeks ago, "My heart is filled with love for this community. I am so thankful for the once-strangers who have become part of my family. Our lives changes so quickly, and to find people who will come to your side when you truly need it is  immeasurable."

Christian is scheduled to make a short appearance at the walk, but due to chemotherapy treatments he won't be able to stay long. Can't make it? You can still support the family by sending Christian a 'hug'.
