Happy 107th Birthday Edith Smith

Goshen - In a message released from Orange County news room, County Executive Edward A. Diana extends a message of congratulations to Orange County's oldest resident - Edith Smith on the occasion of her 107th birthday. 

Mrs. Smith is a life-long resident of Orange County whose roots in the County extend back several generations.

“It’s my pleasure to wish Mrs. Edith Smith a very happy 107th birthday,” said County Executive Diana. “She is an inspiration and a role model to others and a part of the fabric of the community that helps to make this County a great place to live, work, and raise a family. The people of Orange County wish Mrs. Smith the best of health and happiness on her birthday,” Diana continued.

Mrs. Smith, grandmother to local businessman and philanthropist RJ Smith, is mother to four children and grandmother to 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and two great, great grandchildren. She continues to live on her own at the senior independent living facility Schuyler Crossing in Pine Bush.

“Mrs. Smith is an amazing woman,” remarked Ann Marie Maglione, Director of the Orange County Office for the Aging. “At 107, she is still active and involved. She was the oldest participant in last year’s Orange County Senior Games and we look forward to having her join us again this year. All of us at the Office for the Aging wish Edith a very happy birthday.”
