Healthy Food Vendors Sought for Walkway State Park

Local, Nutritious Food Sources Encouraged in Proposals Due Feb. 15th

POUGHKEEPSIE—New York State Parks is seeking proposals from those interested in vending healthy, locally-sourced foods at Walkway Over the Hudson State Park.

In addition to the Walkway, State Parks is also seeking similar services for Rockefeller State Park Preserve in Pleasantville, Westchester County, Staatsburgh State Historic Site (Mills Mansion) in Staatsburgh, Dutchess County, Clermont State Historic Site, Germantown, Columbia County, and Olana State Historic Site in Hudson, Columbia County. A request for proposals issued on Dec. 12, 2012 calls for businesses to respond by 2 p.m. on Feb. 15th.

At the Walkway, concessionaires are being sought for each of the park’s two main entranceways, including the east approach in the City of Poughkeepsie and the west approach in the Town of Lloyd. The RFP provides further information about all of the available locations and guidelines for submitting proposals. New York State Parks encourages proposals that meet the following criteria:

· Products and materials that are locally sourced to the greatest extent possible

· Foods that have no artificial additives or preservatives

· Foods limited in calories, salt, refined sugars, saturated fat and that contain no trans-fats

· Fried foods should be kept to a minimum
