Dutchess County Executive Marcus J. Molinaro said, "Fodor’s has announced what we know so well - Dutchess County and the Hudson River Valley is a great place to visit and explore. From amazing trails and beautiful farmland, to rich cultural and historic sites, vibrant communities and unmatched food and drinks, we are a great visit for any tourist. As one of only five locations in the United States highlighted by Fodor’s, we couldn't agree more: Make Dutchess County and the Hudson Valley one of your 2015 visits." Molinaro added, "This recognition is another success for our tourism industry. Now at nearly a half billion dollars in economic activity, tourism is an engine for our county. In 2015, we increased our financial commitment and support for Dutchess Tourism, Inc., and partner with them to keep moving Dutchess forward. This is an exciting announcement that affirms, Dutchess County is distinct and deserving of a visit!"

To select the 2015 Go List, the Fodor’s editorial team began with an initial list of dozens of global and domestic nominees, which they narrowed down to the top 25 places to go next year after much heated internal debate. The end result is a Go List that highlights travel destinations sure to suit every taste, trip length and budget. The only other sites in the United States of America selected were the Florida Panhandle; Cleveland, Ohio; Jackson Hole, Wyoming; and Louisville, Kentucky.

The “Fodor’s 2015 Go List Destinations” article reads in part: Hudson Valley & The Catskills, New York:  New York State has more to offer travelers than just New York City, and the allure of the Hudson Valley and nearby Catskills Mountains have become impossible to ignore in recent years. Just a few hours north of the city, quaint towns like Hudson, Rhinebeck and Tarrytown have officially morphed into hip enclaves, with charming boutique stores, a blooming art scene (don’t miss Storm King and DIA: Beacon), and farm-to-table restaurants that give Brooklyn a run for its money thanks to the Culinary Institute of America. Outdoor enthusiasts flock to the Catskills and its skiing and hiking options while history buffs enjoy the Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site and United States Military Academy at West Point.

Executive Director of Dutchess Tourism, Inc., Mary Kay Vrba said, “It’s due to the many unique attractions found throughout our region that we’ve been selected by Fodor’s for this significant honor. To all of our tourism partners, I say, well done! It’s far from an individual achievement. We’re home to many high-quality recreational activities, along with historic and cultural landmarks; when they’re combined with our natural scenic beauty, it makes our status as a premier travel destination undisputed. We love this part of New York State, and we want everyone else to visit and love the Hudson Valley and Catskills as much as we do!
