Lights in Bloom at the Arboretum Dec 1 - 29
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Despite a chill in the air this December, the Orange County Arboretum will be in “full bloom” with beautiful, garden themed light features in the forms of flowers, animals and insects and the 9/11 Memorial Garden will be decorated in patriotic splendor.
The “Holiday Lights in Bloom” program is FREE and will be open to the public on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 5:00pm to 8:00pm starting November 30th though December 22nd and then daily from 5:00pm to 8:00pm December 23rd through December 29th (closed 12/25, Christmas Day). Volunteers from The Friends of the OC Arboretum will be on hand in the Ottaway Education center to serve visitors free hot cocoa and sell handmade crafts at their Holiday Boutique.
Commissioner Richard L. Rose of the Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation is pleased to announce that the Friends of the Orange County Arboretum will host their annual Holiday Boutique in conjunction with the Park sponsored “Lights in Bloom” program on the weekends from December 1 through December 29.
The Friends will be offering a wonderful selection of merchandise hand crafted by the Arboretum’s dedicated group of volunteer “elves” that will be ideal for your decorating and gift giving needs. Handmade ornaments, wreaths, garland, fresh centerpieces, miniature trees, hand knitted hats and scarves, birdhouses, holiday linens, and honey collected from the Arboretum’s bee hives are just a small sampling of what will be available. There will be plenty of opportunities to shop and then visit the light program because the Boutique will be open in the Ottaway Education Center on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 5-8pm December 1 to December 22 and then daily from December 23 to December 29 (closed December 25, Christmas Day). If you just want to shop, and skip the light program, the boutique will open early for your convenience at 2pm on Sunday, Dec.1 and Sunday, December 8. All proceeds raised at the Boutique help fund the beautiful plantings and various educational programs at the Arboretum.
