Newburgh Free Academy Students Celebrate August Graduation

                          104 Graduates Earn Diplomas

On Fri., August 19, 2011, 104 Newburgh Free Academy students were awarded their high school diplomas during NFA’s August graduation ceremony. In total, the June and August graduations combined amounted to 710 NFA graduates.

“The Class of 2011 is one of the largest graduating classes in over a decade,” proud Newburgh Free Academy Principal Peter Copeletti shared with those in attendance.

NECSD Superintendent of Schools Ralph A. Pizzo spoke to the graduates about the many challenges over the past several years that led them to the stage that evening. Pizzo went on to explain that there is a strong correlation between education and employability later in life. “The opportunities and challenges ahead demand well-educated minds and I am delighted to know that you have an excellent foundation from which to launch yourselves into life’s turbulent waters,” Pizzo explained to the young graduates. We're very proud of all the graduates! Thank you to the teachers and staff who work through the summer session to make this happen!
