NFA Adds 95 Students to the List of 2012 Graduates

The halls of Newburgh Free Academy were full of activity this summer with the sound of determined students working towards achieving their high school diploma as part of the Newburgh Enlarged City School District’s Extended School Year Program (ESYP) for seniors.

On Thursday, August 23, 2012, students along with their friends and family celebrated their accomplishments during the August graduation ceremony held in the NFA Auditorium. In total, 95 students received their diplomas. When combined with the 581 graduates from the June graduation exercises, the Class of 2012 had 676 graduates.

“I hope as you walk off this stage tonight, you feel an immense sense of joy and accomplishment for reaching your goal of a high school diploma. It may not seem like it now, but in the coming years you will realize that your efforts today will pay dividends tomorrow,” explained Superintendent of Schools Ralph A. Pizzo.

Newburgh Free Academy Executive Principal Maxine Nodel thanked the parents and family members in attendance for their support of the students. In addition, she reminded the students that the perseverance and dedication they displayed over the summer led them to their seat on the stage.

“We are so very proud of you,” explained Nodel

Indeed we are. Thank you NFA for extending the year, thank you to the Summer school teachers for staying to help these awesome kids get through the Newburgh Enlarged City School District academic program. An impressive 676 students are headed into the world with the Newburgh experience to guide them on their way. Happy Hudson Valley wishes you all well!
