Calling All Poets : be part of our first ever reader competition! HappyHudsonValley.com wants your hilarious creative writing pieces! Haiku (5-7-5) and Limerick (AABBA) style poems are now being collected for an upcoming post featuring Hudson Valley writers with a sense of humor. Contest will be judged by our staff and a prize will be awarded*. Send your submissions to HappyHudsonValley@gmail.com - entries should be family friendly, tasteful  (not tasty that's a different contest altogether) and be in the style of either limerick or haiku. Contest is for All Ages the Deadline is April 15th - tax day (the least hilarious day of the year - you're welcome).

8th Annual Poetry Competition Underway

CORNWALL, NY – Entries are now being accepted for Cornwall Public Library’s 2012 Timothy Mumford Memorial Poetry Competition. Young poets from throughout Cornwall Library’s service area are invited to participate. As in previous years, the library is anticipating a terrific response to this 8th annual competition.

Submissions will be rated in five different age categories by a panel of independent judges.

Submissions will be accepted through 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 15th.

Winners in each of the categories will be announced and awards presented during a special program scheduled for Saturday, May 5th at the library. Rules and more detailed information about the 2012 Timothy Mumford Memorial Poetry Competition are available at the library, on the library’s website or by e-mailing Beth Texter at btexter@rcls.org. Submissions can be dropped off at the library during regular hours, e-mailed to Beth Texter, or mailed to: Cornwall Public Library Poetry Competition, 395 Hudson St., Cornwall, NY 12518.
