Sunshine is all Around at the 4th Annual Carly's Kids Day

June 2012 from the archives

The community will come together to celebrate the life of a beautiful, young, energetic, athletic angel named Carly Marie Sigelbaum this weekend. Carly's Day is an annual event held in honor of the precocious girl who's life was cut short in a tragic car accident back in 2008. Carly's Day is thoughtfully filled with activities and exciting events that Carly herself would have been first in line for. Event organizer Veronica Valle - a family friend - was Carly's soccer coach.

Everybody knew this kid - her Dad worked at the High School and she attended every football game. She played for Cornwall United Soccer and Town of Newburgh Soccer, she was also a gymnast at Gym Kids. That’s the kind of kid she was - busy 6 days out of the week.  Popular and good-hearted.

Carly was on her way to gymnastics class on that fatefully sad day.  Her father, who also sustained injuries is said to be doing much better.

Of course, it's still hard and becomes painfully real again on the day of the event. But, the kids love this and we hold it in her memory. She is always there - we always have a sunny day and it's just amazing.
