Text-In for Your Chance to Win a Super-Prize in Celebration of Warwick's Applefest

Don't tell me Johnny Appleseed didn't spread some deep-rooted love in the Hudson Valley.. The prevalence of apple orchards - now at their harvesting peak - in our region are the center-of-the leaf-peeping universe. The premier event of this coveted and colorful season is the long-running tradition of Warwick, NY's Applefest.

Since its debut in 1989 as a harvest celebration the festival has grown to giant proportions thanks to the Warwick Valley Community Center and the Warwick Chamber of Commerce. According to event literature:

Over 30,000 visitors attend the one-day event, traveling from neighboring states to experience the extraordinary variety of Warwick's apples, culture, and entertainment.

Applefest features over 200 crafters and dozens of vendors offering a wonderful variety of food. In addition, free musical entertainment on several stages, a carnival for the children, Farmers' Market, and fifty local non-profit exhibitors all make for a great day in the country, in a town renowned for its Victorian charm and agricultural bounty.

Warwick's Applefest is scheduled to take place rain or shine on Sunday October 14th, 2012. The festival is held in the streets and parks of the Village of Warwick and admission is FREE. A carnival, and a variety of stage-acts are scheduled..with performances by the Orange County Youth Symphony, The Acting Out Playhouse (check out their website), the jazz duo Jonaitis & Newcomb (video below) and many more...

Check out the apple pie baking contest Junior (age 16 and under) and Senior (age 17 +) divisions with official judging at 1:00 p.m. at which time pies will be sold by the slice. (Proceeds to benefit the Warwick Ecumenical Food Pantry.) Applefest is tons of fun- food and craft vendor spaces are completely sold out. There is non-stop fun for the whole family, including a ride carnival (tickets available for purchase). Visit the Applefest site for more details. Please take note: dogs are not allowed at Applefest.

Festival proceeds benefit these and other local non-profit organizations:

Warwick Valley Community Center, serving residents of the Warwick Valley and beyond, is a successful multipurpose community center serving a population from 4 to 94 years of age. Founded in 1977, the Center offers a preschool program, community enrichment classes & workshops, after-school programs for children and teens, a film series and a venue for concerts and theatre. Visit them online.

Warwick Valley Chamber of Commerce is a full service business development and marketing organization dedicated to helping businesses in the Town of Warwick, NY reach their full potential. A number of leading edge initiatives make consumers in the local municipalities and surrounding areas aware of the value that comes with purchasing goods and services in the Town of Warwick.

Parking at Warwick Valley Middle School or Veterans Memorial Park as well as the High School, Park Ave Elementary School and the Georgia-Pacific building and take the shuttle ($5) or get there early and reserve your spot near the festival area at 2 Bank St. in Warwick. There won't be parking in the festival area, shuttle buses will run all day long and are handicapped accessible. Theories that Johnny Appleseed visited the Hudson Valley on his way from his birthplace in Massachusetts to the mid-west are purely speculative, but not (in my opinion) unlikely. :)

even graped love Applefest..and grapes and apples do not mix well together in fruit salad.
