Touch-A-Truck Logo Design Winners Announced
POUGHKEEPSIE – Henry Litsky, a sixth grader at Van Wyck Junior High School in Wappingers Falls, won 1st prize in the logo design contest for the annual Touch-A-Truck to be held June 9 at the Orange County Fairgrounds as a fundraiser for United Way of the Dutchess-Orange Region.
Family-friendly Touch-A-Truck will feature more than 50 vehicles such as cherry pickers, concrete mixers, fire trucks, emergency vehicles and trucks of all types for kids to see, photograph and climb on. More than 3,000 people are expected to attend this year’s event which raises funds for United Way.
Taking 2nd place in the logo design contest was Jonathan Dillon, a sixth grade student at Pine Bush BOCES Satellite. Gardnertown Elementary School fifth grader Cassidy Woodward, was the 3rd place winner. In addition, Charlotte Read, a second grade student at Vail Farm Elementary School in LaGrangeville, garnered an honorable mention in the contest. Winning logos were selected by members of Young Leaders United, the hosts for the event, from entries submitted by children ages 3 to 17 attending schools in Orange and Dutchess counties.
Both Litsky and Dillon have been past logo contest winners. Litsky won a 3rd place in the 2010 contest and went home with an honorable mention in 2011. But this year, his design featuring a bright blue tractor garnered the contest’s top prize. It will be used as the event’s logo and will appear on all promotional materials for the June 9 annual fundraiser. Dillon won first place in the 2012 logo competition.
Prizes for the logo contest winners were donated by the Hudson Valley Renegades, Castle Fun Center in Chester, and Wrapped Up In Design in Highland. Event sponsors are WellCare, DSL Financial Solutions and Cumulus Media.
Touch-A-Truck tickets are $5 per person, kids 3 and under enter free. All proceeds stay local and are used by United Way to bring together individuals, organizations and funding sources to collaborate as catalysts for social change and achieve long-term collective impact in the Dutchess-Orange region.
